Wayne McDonald has more than 25 years business experience that includes ownership and executive management of both public and private companies. He joined Matteson Partners in 2003 and is now Managing Partner. His focus is in C level searches in addition to working with Engineering and Architectural Firms, Sports, Non Profit Organizations, and Sales and Marketing Professionals. McDonald founded and was Chairman and CEO of Golf Training Systems, a company he took public in 1995. The company successfully developed golf products and programs for well known instructors David Leadbetter and Dave Pelz and helped brand and market the Leadbetter and Pelz names and product lines worldwide. McDonald earlier served as founder and President of a venture capital backed firm in Atlanta, Cornerstone Products Inc., which became the leading visual merchandising supplier of in-store products to promote and sell logo merchandise for professional sports leagues, including MLB, NBA, NHL, NASCAR and USOC. Prior to launching his own business ventures, McDonald held sales executive positions and began his career in sales with Boise Cascade Corporation. In 2001, McDonald became a Senior Professional golfer at the age of 51 and competed with the top-ranking players on the Champions Tour. He has finished successfully in the US Senior Open, British Senior Open and Canadian Senior Open. He has also won four professional events on the secondary Senior Tours. McDonald continues to play a reduced schedule. He earned a bachelors degree in Marketing from Indiana University. He also finished second in the NCAA, won the Canadian Amateur and was twice voted First Team All-American. He is a native of Toronto, Ontario and currently resides in Atlanta.

He has also won four professional secondary Senior Professional tournaments. McDonald continues to play a reduced schedule. McDonalds successful career in golf was seeded at Indiana University on a golf scholarship. His years at the University put him on par with the best players of the day, including Tom Watson, Tom Kite and Lanny Wadkins, when he finished second in the NCAA, won the Canadian Amateur, and was twice voted First Team All-American. After college, McDonald chose to focus on a business career and left competitive golf for many yearsuntil 2001, when he began his Senior Professional career. |
